Safety Harbor Writers & Poets and the Safety Harbor Public Library Foundation are excited to present the city’s first writers conference on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Safety Harbor Public Library, 101 2nd Ave. North, Safety Harbor, FL 34695. Freedom Riders: 1961 and The Struggle for Racial Justice), Gregory Byrd (Salt and Iron, Florida Straits, and At Penuel), Nicole Caron (ESL & Writing Coordinator at Ringling College of Art + Design), Janet Lee Stinson (columnist/blogger), Jim & Maura Sweeney (Maura - HuffPost blogger, international speaker, Jim - sports blogger and creator of comic book MIKE),Warren Firschein (A Brief History of Safety Harbor, Florida, and Out of Synch), and Laurie Ross (Shop Dogs). Workshops range from plotting, poetry, sentence-level editing, to blogging and e-publishing. Book signings will occur after the keynote speakers and during conference breaks. Local restaurants will offer Florida author-themed specials throughout the city during lunch. A wine & cheese gathering, poetry readings, and zine-making workshop will follow the conference at Sideshow, 737 Main Street, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The cost for the Safety Harbor Writers & Poets Conference 2015: A Focus on Craft is $75 before 11/7, and $85 the day of.
